 HOSPITALS ENGAGE HEALTH WORKERS IN EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP, MAGT TRAINING

As part of efforts to enhance healthcare service delivery in public hospitals across Ogun State, Medical Doctors, Pharmacists, Nurses, among other healthcare providers have been engaged in a Step Down Training towards effective management and leadership.


Permanent Secretary, Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Nike Elemide, while speaking during the official opening of a six months Nufficc-TMT on Adaptive Governance for Healthcare Workers on Leadership and Management training, organised by State Hospital, Ijaiye and Oba Ademola Maternity Hospital, Abeokuta at the NHIS Conference Room, State Hospital, Ijaiye Abeokuta, said the roles of health care providers were crucial to the well-being of the people of the state.

Dr. Elemide, represented by the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics in the Board, Dr. Wellington Ogunsanya stated that the state health sector under the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, prioritises human development, training and retraining of health workers for effective and efficient health care delivery.

She said Medical practitioners should have leadership and managerial skills that would enable them to mobilise and empower their subordinate for achieving collective goal of the hospital.

In his contribution, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Kayode Oladehinde admonished leaders to have a productive mindset that would positively drive an organisation to success.

Dr. Oladehinde, represented by the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Ministry of Health, Dr. Bamiselu Oluyomi, noted that a good leader should remain focus, in order to inspire the entire team in accomplishing their objectives.

 Delivering a lecture titled, "Leading and Managing to Achieve Results", the duo of the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Bababunmi Osinaike and the Senior Medical Officer, State Hospital, Ijaiye, Dr. Folashade Bamgboye said leaders must have pragmatic and dynamic approach, collaborative actions, identify the problems and proffer possible solutions.

     Contributing, Pharm. Aina Alagbala, ADNS Taiwo Florence and Dr. (Mrs.) Olufunke Oyeneye, encouraged leaders to facilitate improved work environment, to strengthen team's performance, enjoining the participants to make good use of the training.

OGUN MOBILISES RESOURCES FOR PLANTING TWO MILLION TREES IN 2024

In a bid to achieve target of planting Two million trees in year 2024, Ogun State Ministry of Forestry has raised over 750,000 seedlings for planting across the state.

 Commissioner in the ministry, Engr. Taiwo Oludotun revealed this during the Mid-year Assessment Budget Performance of Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government, at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

The Commissioner said the ministry collaborated with critical stakeholders such as, Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria(FRN), International Institute of Tropical Agriculture(IITA), Nigeria Breweries, Farmers in the implementation of the exercise.

 Oludotun noted that provision of seedlings and other support had been provided for farmers, Baales in the enclave and officials of the ministry in the nine forest reserves across the state.

Responding, Chairman, House Committee on Forestry, Hon. Fatiu Folawewo commended the ministry on its improved revenue drive over 59 percent of the annual revenue target, as well as engaging the various stakeholders in ensuring the protection of the ecosystem.
