Independent Online Chapel, Ota Gets NUJ Recognition


The Independent Online Chapel, Ota has been given a Certificate Of Recognition from Ogun State Executive Council of Nigeria Union Of Journalists to further promote and project the profession as fourth realm of government.



Ogun State NUJ Chairman, Comrade Wale Olanrewaju together with the State Executives while presenting the Certificate Of Recognition at the Registry Hall of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Ota said  efforts must be embraced  to  shun sensational reporting.

The number one Journalist in Ogun State, Com. Wale Olanrewaju admonished the members of Independent Online Chapel, Ota to improve on their reportage in order to suit the 'NUJ' standard .

According to him "efforts had been made in the past to have this chapel recognised, but, it's coming at the appropriate time, there is 'NUJ' constitutional procedure for membership which must be certified before anyone can be a bonafide member otherwise, with cognate experience in the profession without the prerequisite qualifications in recognised institutions either under the tutelage of 'NUC' or 'MBTE', such a fellow will remain as an associate member but cannot vote or be voted for", Comrade Olanrewaju explained.

He  then  set up a four-man electoral committee for election of maiden executives of NUJ Independent Online Chapel, Ota, appointing the Electoral Committee members as Com. Abiodun Lawal (Chairman), Com. Kayode Taiwo, Com. Sam Popoola, and Com. Idris Adelakun charging them to conduct election in the next  three weeks. 


Responding, the former Ogun State NUJ Chairman and the Inaugural Committee Facilitator, Independent Online Chapel, Ota, Comrade Kayode Taiwo said it is imperative at this time to have a recognised chapel in Ota having met veterans in the area saying Olota of Ota, Prof. AbdulKabir Obalanlege, as a Journalist welcome the initiative and gave the royal blessing.

The Editor, Globalreports, Mr Sola Daniel in his vote of thanks said on behalf of the entire members,  were all elated for the development descriping it as a new dawn in the area saying the chapel would foster uphold the tenets of the profession and lifts it to an enviable position.
