 OGUN RELEASES 2024 BECE RESULTS

Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has released the result of 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) Result for Junior Secondary School (JSS 3) learners in public and private schools in the state.




A release signed by the Commissioner in the Ministry, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, indicated that candidates should log on to the website https://ogsera.ogunstate.gov.ng, click on BECE Examination and view their results.

The release stated that a re-sit examination would be conducted for candidates who failed English Studies or Mathematics or both, saying the date for the re-sit would be communicated in due course.

It wished the learners a successful academic session in their respective streams in Senior Secondary School (SSS)1 classes.

 

OGSG TO RESUSCITATE BULK PURCHASE SCHEME

Ogun State government has disclosed plan to implement a bulk purchase scheme, in order to resell foodstuffs at more affordable prices to the people, just as farmers’ market would soon commence across the state, towards addressing high cost of food items in markets.

The state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun revealed this during a meeting with market leaders, led by the Iyaloja General, Chief (Mrs.) Yemisi Abass, at the Governor's Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, stating that the Bulk Purchase Company had been rebranded and be called Gateway Trading Board.

"Gateway Trading Company will now assist in bringing food items to our teeming public at prices that will be far below what they can obtain the items themselves from the market’’.

"So, we are going to aggressively implement our Gateway Trading objectives which will first start in the four zones; they will buy in bulk and resell at prices that will be more affordable to our people", he said.  

Governor Abiodun added that a price control mechanism would be introduced, with the setting up of a market enforcement taskforce to oversee pricing activities across the state, saying all forms of coercion and intimidation by people, who add no value to markets across the state would be stamped out.

He directed that all forms of levies in the markets should be suspended, except the development and environmental levies that were meant for the progress of markets.

"A few things have been identified by way of illegal taxes that are being imposed, right there in the markets; loading taxes, discharge taxes, offloading taxes, illegal levies in the name of different people, from now on, we are putting a ban on such illegal levies in any market in Ogun State’’, he said.

The governor also cancelled all exorbitant and unbearable shop and stall rents imposed on traders, warning that anyone caught collecting illegal fees in markets across the state would face the full wrath of the law.

 The state helmsman informed that Ministry of Environment and Ogun State Waste Management Agency, in conjunction with Women Affairs and Social Development Ministry, would ensure effective management of wastes in markets, and make dumpsters readily available for regular pick-up.

In her remarks, Chief (Mrs.) Abass, who commended the governor for calling the meeting to deliberate on well-being of residents, promising that all traders would abide by all the resolutions.

ENGR. JAJI, A SEASONED PROFESSIONAL – ABIODUN

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has described the retired Acting General Manager of Ogun State Water Corporation, Engr. (Mrs.) Muinat Jaji, as a seasoned professional, who delivered beyond expectation.

Gov. Abiodun, who made this submission at the send-off ceremony in Abeokuta, organised for Engr. (Mrs.) Jaji by the management of the agency, noting that provision of potable water to the people was a top priority to his administration, hence the insistence on a competent hand to manage the agency, saying, “I can say authoritatively that Mrs. Jaji is seasoned and has justified the confidence reposed in her”.

Represented by the Secretary to the Ogun State Government (SSG), Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, the governor noted that the Corporation had witnessed significant transformation under her watch and assisted government to deliver on its mandate on the social welfare and well-being through the provision of potable water in the state.

“She has broken new grounds and proven her critics wrong, especially those who believed she will not be able to man the agency effectively”, he said.

Also speaking, the friend to the retiree, who is also the Secretary to the Kogi State Government, Dr. (Mrs.) Folashade Ayoade, informed that the retiree was her classmate at the University of Ilorin, expressing joy at her achievements in the public service.

On her part, Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Mrs. Funmilayo Efuwape, affirmed that Mrs. Jaji demonstrated uncommon dedication and passion for her job, describing her “as a worthy partner”, who played critical role in revamping the water sector in the state.

Responding, Engr. (Mrs.) Jaji, appreciated the governor for the privilege given her to serve and support she got which culminated in feasible achievements in the agency, thanking government functionaries and the staff of the Corporation for their love and support over the years.

 Also present at the event were the Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya; Permanent Secretaries, Head of Parastatals and some retired General Managers of the Corporation.

OGUN SSG CONGRATULATES SUBEB DIRECTOR ON HIS RETIREMENT

Secretary to the Ogun State Government (SSG), Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, has congratulated the outgone Director of Quality Assurance Department at State Universal Basic Education Board, (SUBEB), Elder Olusegun Alade, as he retired from active service in the state Civil Service.

Speaking during the retirement programme, organised by management and staffers of the Board, at the Conference Hall of the Board, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Mr. Talabi described the retired Director as a man of integrity, worthy of emulation.

While encouraging civil servants who are still in service to imbibe the spirit of commitment and be focused, as day of reckoning would surely come, the SSG enjoined the retiree to continue to demonstrate good attitude in retirement.  

Also speaking, the Head of Service, (HoS), Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, stated that civil servants in the state should endeavour to draw inspiration from highly experienced individuals, so as to resonate and be great in life, wishing the celebrant more years ahead in sound health, as he would open another chapter in his life.

In his remarks, Chairman of the Board, Dr. Femi Majekodunmi, commended the retired Director, noting that his dedication, selfless service and contribution to the service would always be remembered.

Responding, the retiree, Mr. Alade, expressed gratitude to the state government, management and staff of SUBEB for their love and kindness throughout his active service, promising not to take them for granted.

OGUN GOVT. TAKES STEPS TO ADVANCE ALTERNATE MEDICINE

The present administration in Ogun State has taken bold steps at ensuring that the alternate medicine practice is generally accepted and recognised by both national and international health system through its various indigenous research by practitioners to combat any disease.

The Chairman Ogun State Alternate Medicine Board, (OGAMB), Balogun Nurudeen Olaleye, disclose this at the second graduation ceremony of the Emmanuel College of Traditional Medicine and Health Technology (ECOTHTECH), at the Daniel Akintomide Arcade Hall, Ita-Alapo Ijebu-Ode.

Balogun Olaleye, represented by the agency’s Information Officer, Mr. Dolapo Jinad, said government would continue to provide enabling environment to encourage the practice of alternate medicine in the state, adding that the success of the profession was achievable through cooperation with government, in terms of proper registrations and abiding with operational laws guiding the practice.

In his lecture titled, "Traditional Medicine Has Now Become a Goldmine, World Is Awaiting Nigeria", the guest speaker of the event, Head of Department of Forest Resources Management, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, (FUNAB), Prof. Samuel Oluwalana, noted that natural medicine, which is now globally accepted, is a money-making sector for government, especially in the western countries, saying the world depends on Nigeria for the supply of major recipes used for discovering products, “which are packaged and brought back to us as finished products that we buy with huge amount of money, contributing to the downturn of our economy”, calling on government to give more support to the Board.

Earlier, the school Provost, Dr. Adebayo Owolabi, who appreciated the Board’s continuous assistance to the College, congratulated the graduands for their endurance, leading to successful certification, reminding them to always adhere to the rules guiding the practice.

Responding on behalf of other graduating students, Mrs. Habibat Fasasi, appreciated the school management and the state government for establishing Alternate Medicine Board, as a platform that brought light into the sub-sector through its advocacy and enlightenment orientation workshop for practitioners, promising to be good ambassadors of the school.

OGMPWB COMMENCES SENSITISATION FOR 2025 HAJJ

Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced sensitisation visits to the League of Imams and Alfas in Egba, Ilaro and Remo zones, to intimate them on the commencement of year 2025 Hajj exercise.

 Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Ajibola Taiwo, who led a team to the zones, said the Board is open for initial deposit of Eight Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N8,500,000) which could be paid in full or instalments, pending the final announcement of the Hajj fare for next year by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

Alhaji Taiwo assured that the agency would not relent at ensuring adequate welfare of pilgrims, soliciting support and prayers of the Imams for a successful operation in 2025.

In their various response, the Chief Imam of Egbaland Sheik Sa’aadallah Bamigbola, Chief Imam of Ilaro Sheik Tajudeen Adewunmi and Chief Imam of Remoland, Sheik Abdulquadir Junaid, respectively, pledged their cooperation with the Board for smooth conduct of the exercise.

YEWA NORTH TRANSPORT UNIONS APPLAUD ABIODUN ON CNG BUSES, E-MOBILITY MOTORCYCLES

The Association of Transport Unions, Yewa North Chapter, have commended the efforts of Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for being sensitive to the plight of the people by providing eco-friendly Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered buses and electric motorcycles that would ensure cheaper transport fare, thereby making life more bearable for citizens.

Chairman, Road Transport and Employers' Association of Nigerian (RTEAN), Mr. Waidi Ogunbiyi, who gave the commendation while fielding questions from newsmen in Ayetoro, noted that the transportation drive of the present administration was meant to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal on the people.

Ogunbiyi added that the move would not only reduce the cost of transportation but also promote a healthier and cleaner environment, saying the gradual withdrawal of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) powered vehicles from the roads would reduce the emission of carbon monoxide from the environment.

Also speaking, Chairman, Riders and Owners Motorcyclists Organisation (ROMO), Mr. Sogo Tella, applauded the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration for introducing the e-mobility transport system, saying the gesture would promote socio-economic development of the state by increasing the profit margin for e-bikers, ensure cheaper fare for the people and make life more meaningful.

In his remarks, Chairman, Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Owners Association of Nigerian (ACOMORAN), Mr. Rasaq Ogundeji, said the governor's intervention in transport sector through launching 2,000 e-bikes and promise of 100 brand new 18-seater CNG enabled buses, was commendable, appealing to government to look into the deplorable condition of Ayetoro-Abeokuta and Ayetoro-Igan Okoto Roads for urgent rehabilitation
