Public Holiday: OGSIEC Extends Local Government Party Primaries

Public Holiday: OGSIEC Extends Local Government Party Primaries

In light of the public holiday declared by the Federal Government for Monday, 16th September 2024, the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) has extended the timeline for the conduct of party primaries for the upcoming Local Government elections. Given the initial tight schedule and concerns raised by political parties about the impact of the holiday, OGSIEC has revised the deadline for primaries to Thursday, 19th September 2024.

Additionally, the collection period for Personal Data Forms CF001 and CF002 has been extended to Monday, 23rd September 2024, providing parties with adequate time to complete the necessary formalities.

Furthermore, OGSIEC has addressed requests from political parties regarding the nomination fees. The fee for chairmanship candidates has been reduced from N250,000 to N200,000. Male councillorship candidates will now pay N100,000, while the fee for female councillorship candidates has been reduced to N50,000.

Despite these changes, all other aspects of the election timetable remain unchanged. The Local Government elections will proceed as scheduled on 16th November 2024.

These adjustments are aimed at ensuring smoother preparations for the elections and promoting greater participation from all parties.
