Measles Vaccination : Ado-Odo/Ota LG Rolls Out Campaign
The Ogun State Primary Health Care Development Board ( OGPHECADEB), through Ado-odo/Ota Local Government has championed the campaign of vaccination of Children and Women against Preventive Diseases (VPDs) targeting 9- 59 months.
Medical Officer of Health / Health Secretary, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Dr. Jelili Bakare made this declaration during the Stakeholders meeting at the Local Government Secretariat revealing that the campaign starts on Saturday, 19th to Friday, 25th October across the 20 Local Government Areas of the State.
Dr. Bakare said there are various integrated health care services such as hypertension control, Tuberculosis Control, war against cholera and others adding that Government Health facilities are available for use, temporary at fixed post such as Schools both Public and Private, Churches, Mosques, Markets, hard-to-reach communities amongst others.
He added that the campaign is not house to house but the health workers will be at the various designated places across the State to vaccinate eligible Childeren with measles vaccine saying the vaccine is safe, effective and free of charge.
The Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Health Educator, Mr Bankole Augustine advised the Stakeholders to mobilize their people to be vaccined in order to give credence to future health facilities provisions to accommodate more vulnerable people in our communities.
Bankole explained that the Ward Development Chairmen should ensure the adequate security of the health workers in their domains adding climate change has helped the reduction of cholera pandemic in Ogun State advising stakeholders to see to commuters assistance at this time.
He enjoined people to be calm at this economy hardship to prevent hypertension which can reduce the life span of an individual.
Responding, a stakeholder, Chairman State Social Mobilization Committee, Ado-Odo/aOta Local Government, Mr Adeyinka Waheed said the stakeholders would not relent in their efforts to make Government efforts on health a huge success.
