Anambra: Soludo Restates Commitment to Security, Education, Healthcare And Infrastructure
Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has restated his commitment to improving the security situation in Anambra State, on the heels of his recent award as the most-performing governor in primary healthcare in the Southeast and in Nigeria, winning a combined sum of $1.2 million in the two categories.
Soludo's security intervention through Operation Udo Ga-Achi is aimed at making Anambra the safest place in the country, and this was approved by the State's Executive Council.
These were contained in a release by the Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, who stated that the report of the consultative meetings between relevant ministries, departments and agencies, and the private sector on the Anambra State Action on Business Enabling Reform (SABER) programme was well-thought-out and approved. This was consequent upon the state's number one position in Southern Nigeria and seventh in the country in the last peer review.
In another development, the Anambra State Executive Council approved the contract for the rehabilitation of Eze Uzu Junction, Agu-Awka, and the front of the ANSIEC Office to Arroma Junction along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, Awka, and the completion of the Asphalt Wearing Course of the access road of the Chinua Achebe International Airport, Umueri, Anambra East LGA.
Other contracts awarded include the Development of 624 Open Stalls within the Modern Bus Terminal in Ekwulobia, the construction of the Ekwulobia flood control project phase II, including the maintenance of bio-remediation for the next year within the project track, and the rehabilitation of the Amawbia Flyover to Arroma Junction along the Enugu Onitsha Expressway.
The provision of free internet access to Nwafor Orizu College of Education, and the College of Health Technology Obosi was awarded for internet connectivity, likewise the supply and installation of outdoor furniture at the Solution Fun City, Awka.
Also approved was the construction of the Gatehouse, Perimeter Fence, and Earthworks (Clearing) at Ekwulobia Modern Bus Terminal, the installation of Security Equipment and Features in Newly Acquired Security Vehicles (Lot 1 - Hardware Security Gadgets), as well as the completion of Judges Quarters for Anambra State Judiciary, at Onitsha.
