Ado-Odo/Ota LG Chairman Commends Journalists for Promoting Ethical Journalism
The Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Alhaji Lawal Wasiu, has commended journalists in the area for establishing the NUJ Independent Online Chapel, Ogun West.
The Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Lawal Wasiu made this statement while addressing the Nigeria Union of Journalists delegates at the Secretariat in Ota.
He said this initiative aims to promote ethical journalism and curb unprofessional practices in the field emphasizing the crucial role the media plays as the "fourth realm of government."
He highlighted the profession's responsibility to drive development and provide solutions to societal issues.
Comrade Kayode Taiwo, Senior Assistant to the Senate President, advised the local government to improve traffic control mechanisms and promote physical education in primary schools.
He assured that the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) will continue to fulfill its roles as a watchdog and feedback agent for both the government and society.
The NUJ has been proactive in promoting responsible journalism, with initiatives like the Independent Online Chapel, Ogun West, which has received recognition from the Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists.
