Celebrating Diversity: Olota of Ota Calls for National Cultural Day to Foster Unity








In a bid to strengthen cultural heritage and promote national unity, Olota of Ota, Prof.Abdukabir Obalanlege, Ekun II, emphasized the importance of Cultural Day celebrations as yardstick to promote national unity.


Olota of Ota , Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege, ably represented by Odota of Ota, the former executive chairman, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government,Hon. Dele Adeniji made this statement during the Cultural day celebration titled "Wazobia day", at the secretariat hall in Ota 


According to Professor Obalanlege, celebrating Cultural Day is crucial in highlighting the essence of Nigeria's diverse cultural identity urging  the government to make Cultural Day a national holiday to further strengthen unity among the country's ethnic groups.

The Local Government Inspector, Mrs. Deborah Osunubi, noted that the celebration was a first-of-its-kind event, inspired by a visit to Professor Obalanlege. 

The NYSC CDS President on Tourism & Culture,  Mr. Temitope Onikeku, expressed his happiness in leaving a legacy that promotes unity among corps members in the council area.

"The NYSC has a long history of promoting national unity, dating back to its establishment in 1973 . The scheme aims to foster reconciliation and restructuring of intergroup relationships among Nigeria's diverse ethnic groups. By celebrating Cultural Day, the NYSC hopes to strengthen its efforts in promoting national unity and cultural diversity", he said.
