 OPIC TRAINS OFFICERS ON CAPACITY BUILDING FOR OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE

 Ogun State Property and Investment Cooperation (OPIC) in conjunction with Kenvic Consultancy Services has trained its Managerial Officers on Capacity building for Optimal Performance in a bid to ensure the build right industry policy is sustained.


The Special Adviser and Managing Director OPIC, Arc. Abiodun Fari-Arole made this known while delivering his speech at a 2-Day Training Programme organised with the Theme, ‘Capacity Building for Optimal Performance at the Managerial Level’ in Abeokuta, saying the Corporation had been conducting training and retraining of staffs in all cadres as it would ensure they were more productive and well vested in all activities of the build Industries.

He stated that training was not just an activity, but investment, and continuous training would lead to self-development. "Training is not just an activity but an investment, an investment in you as individuals and in the Corporation as a whole. Knowledge is not just power, it’s a profit that benefits both the staff and the Organisation.

The OPIC boss noted that staff training and development cannot be over emphasised, highlighting the benefits to include; enhancing their skills, providing opportunity for career advancement, increasing competence and professionalism, and efficient management of staff, among others.

He added that learning was a crucial step towards excellence, appealing to the officers to take advantage of the training, saying it would equip them with the needed knowledge for life.

One of the guest speakers, a retired Permanent Secretary in the State, TPL. Yetunde Dina, while delivering her lecture on the topic "Sustaining OPIC Guiding Principles and Mandate", said the Corporation played a vital role in promoting, investing, fostering economic transformation and improving the business environment, admonishing the management officers to continue to sustain the mandate, principle and remained committed at all times.

TPL. Dina urged the Corporation to continue to prioritise transparency and accountability in its service delivery, saying it would build trust between the Corporation and its clients.

Also speaking, a retired Permanent Secretary and Lead Consultant, Kenvic Consultancy Services, Alhaji Adekunle Adegbite, who delivered his lecture on the "General Overview of Civil Service and Public Service", said Civil and Public Service were agencies created to coordinate and integrate the various activities of government, saying civil and public servants should faithfully uphold the ethics of their profession and remain apolitical in order to serve any government in power.

A Consultant and Family Physician, Owode Egba General Hospital, Dr. Temitope Yomibo-Sofolahan delivered her lecture on Stress Management, explaining the role of stress in the life of humans which must not be taken with levity, saying, it could reduce productivity, increase management pressure and cause illness in many ways.

Dr. Yomibo-Sofolahan advised officers to manage their stress level by taking charge of their thought, emotions, schedules, environment and the way they deal with problems, saying the ultimate goal was a balanced life, relationship, relaxation and fun, in order to hold up under pressure and meet challenges head on.

She urged officers to eat balance diet and take good care of their health, as this would assist in improving their well-being and make them perform optimally at work.

In their separate remarks, the Director, Planning, Survey and Research, TPL. Dotun Akinwale and Assistant Director Administration and Personnel Mrs. Abidemi Adeyemi, appreciated the Corporation for organising the training, saying it would serve as an avenue to enhance their capacity and be more productive and efficient in the work environment.

Other facilitators at the training were Retired Permanent Secretaries, Mr. Lateef Owodeyi, Alhaji Adebisi Osolase, Mr. Gabriel Olukoga, Mr. Babatunde Odusole, among others.
