The Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria (CIOTA) has inaugurated state chapters across the country, with a focus on reducing road crashes involving trailers and tankers.

 The inauguration ceremony, which took place in Abuja, was attended by national leaders and zonal executives.

At the event, Commander General and CEO of Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, TRACE, Cdr 'Seni Ogunyemi, charged the state chairmen and executives to prioritize advocacy and enlightenment in reducing road crashes emphasizing the need for aggressive membership drives to bring in more qualified transport personnel.


Cdr Adekunle Ajibade, the newly inaugurated Chairman of Ogun State CIOTA, expressed confidence in his team's ability to achieve significant milestones outlining plans to collaborate with the Manufacturer Association of Nigeria (MAN) and other organizations to promote CIOTA's objectives.

The inauguration of state chapters marks a significant step in CIOTA's growth and expansion. According to Prof Samuel Odewumi, committee Chairman of CIOTA, the state chapters will serve as hubs for knowledge sharing, skills development, and professional networking adding that the  chapters will also facilitate research, data collection, and practical strategies to address transport challenges ¹.

Key objectives of the state chapters include:

- *Enhancing Professionalism and Capacity Building*: Providing training and capacity development opportunities for transport administrators.
- *Strengthening Policy Advocacy and Implementation*: Engaging with state governments, policymakers, and stakeholders to advocate for progressive policies.
- *Promoting Research and Innovation*: Facilitating research and data collection to address transport challenges.
- *Encouraging Stakeholder Engagement*: Fostering collaboration between government, industry leaders, academia, and the private sector.

The inauguration of state chapters is a significant milestone in CIOTA's efforts to professionalize transport administration in Nigeria.
