INTER-HOUSE SPORT CRISES: OGUN SPEAKER TASKS SCHOOL PRINCIPALS ON SECURITY
Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide has challenged School Principals in the State, especially Sagamu axis to improve on the security situation of their schools to prevent further clashes among secondary school students in the area.
Rt. Hon. Elemide threw the challenge at the plenary, while responding to the presentation of a member representing Sagamu 1 State Constituency, Hon. Damilare Bello, who reported the incidents of clashes and unrest among secondary schools’ students in the area, especially during Inter-House Sports competition under matter of urgent public importance.
The Speaker noted that the Assembly would interface with the State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology and the management of the State Teaching Service Commission, who were to appear before the State Lawmakers on Friday, March 28, 2025 at 12 noon, to discuss the incidents which had caused panic in the area.
In another development, the Minority Leader, Hon. Lukman Adeleye called on members of the National Assembly from the State to always engage the State Lawmakers in Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government and other credible officials in the monitoring of all infrastructural projects being facilitated as constituency projects in their constituencies, with a view to preventing shoddy delivery of infrastructural projects.
Hon. Adeleye spoke under Personal Explanation, recounting projects facilitated by some members of the National Assembly, that were already damaged few months upon completion by rainstorm, due to lack of quality control, noting that it was imperative for contractors handling projects to always adhere to safety standard, building and construction regulations, to enable the projects stand the test of time.
Responding, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, commiserated with the victims of the rainstorm that led to the damage of a public building, appealing to the Federal Lawmakers to always engage their Co-lawmakers at the State level in monitoring projects facilitated with a view to ensuring quality service delivery.
Meanwhile, a member representing Sagamu II State Constituency, Hon. Adeniran Adeyinka, presented a petition on behalf of the Kaaro Oojiire Omo Oodua Foundation (KOOF) on allegations of unethical practices at Ikenne General Hospital to the Assembly.
