 OGHA PASSES RESOLUTION SEEKING RENAMING POLYTECHNIC, OTHERS, AFTER LATE SENATOR OTEGBOLA

Ogun State House of Assembly has passed a resolution calling on the State Government to rename the Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Igbesa and other developmental projects in honour of the late Asiwaju of Aworiland, Senator Solomon Otegbola.


Opening debate on the motion leading to the passage of the resolution, the Majority Leader and member representing Ado-Odo/Ota 1 State Constituency, Hon. Yusuf Sherrif said late Otegbola demonstrated unwavering commitment to public service, education, health, youth empowerment and infrastructural development.

Others who contributed to the debate included, Deputy Speaker, Hon. Bolanle Ajayi, Minority Leader, Hon. Lukman Adeleye, Honourables Babatunde Tella and Musefiu Lamidi, stating that the late Senator Otegbola had set standards in governance and public service, stressing the need to immortalise him.

They described the late Senator as the first politician from Ado-Odo/Ota to represent the Ogun West in the Senate and was an Elder statesman, a father to many, a pillar of strength and voice of reason, who rendered exemplary service to the State and the nation.

The lawmakers noted that renaming such Institution among others in his name would promote community pride among the people of Ado-Odo/Ota and in turn inspire the younger generation to contribute meaningfully to community service.
