 OGSG SETS DEADLINE FOR MANDATORY REGISTRATION OF HERDERS

          The Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has set Monday, March 31, 2025, as deadline for the ongoing registration of herders in the 20 Local Government Areas of the state.

 


 A statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Kehinde Jokotoye, indicated that registration, which was in collaboration with the South-West Commodity Farmers Organisation, Ogun State Chapter, would improve security, resolve conflicts, enhance livestock management practices, while giving herders the opportunity to benefit from government support, subsidies and incentives, aimed at improving livestock production.

          It added that the State government had observed that some private veterinary practitioners, veterinary pharmaceutical outfits, slaughter slabs, live bird and cattle markets, were operating illegally without appropriate approvals and license by the Department of Veterinary Services of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.

 The statement warned those involved in the aforementioned unlawful activities to henceforth desist or face the wrath of the law, in accordance with the Animal Disease Control Act of 2022, urging members of the public to contact the Director of Veterinary services, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Ita-Eko, Abeokuta, on 08033794450 for further inquiries.
