 OGSG SHUTS DOWN ILLEGAL SCHOOL, CONDEMNS SEXUAL ASSAULT ON PUPIL


In its effort to maintain sanity and clampdown on illegal schools, the Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, has shutdown Perfect Light Nursery and Primary School, Eyinogbe, in Sagamu Local Government Area of the state, for operating illegally and sexual assault of a pupil by .

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Dr. Ronke Soyombo, while visiting the school, expressed disgust at the alleged abuse and the deplorable conditions under which the pupils were learning.

Dr. Soyombo assured the community that the present administration in conjunction with Nigeria Police Force, Ogun State Command had stepped into the matter and would ensure adequate investigation, while legal sanctions would be taken against the perpetrator.

She affirmed the commitment of the government towards providing conducive learning conditions for the betterment of learners in both private and public schools irrespective of their level, urging parents to take good care of their children making sure they are not exposed to social vices.

The Special Adviser stated that the Ministry of Education had been working collaboratively with the State Ministry of Health and Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to carry out medical examinations and ensure the well-being of the affected child.

Dr. Soyombo assured the parents that other learners in the community would be enrolled at the nearest public primary school in Igode to continue their education without any hitch, warning perpetrators of evil acts to leave the State because the current administration would not take it easy with them.

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has assured that his administration will replicate the largest farmers' market located in France in many locations across the State.

Governor Abiodun stated this during an on-the-spot assessment tour to the on-going Farmers' Market at Asero, Abeokuta, saying the initiative was to settle the farmers at a location, where people could have easy access to farm produce

"Our intention is to actually build a massive one. I was in France a few weeks ago  and I saw the largest farmers' market in Europe; one of the largest in the world; and our intention is to replicate that in the State”, he said.

Prince Abiodun said the State was the first in the country to have a State Farmers' Management Information System, which ensures adequate data of farmers, reiterating that his administration would continue to support farmers with land preparation, provision of pesticides and fertilisers.

"We know how many farmers we have; we know their demography, we know what they are planting, we know the volume we produce and we also have their contact numbers", he said.

He frowned at the activities of middlemen and their sharp practices, saying that increase in prices of goods was not as a result of the removal of subsidy on fuel but rather, due to the unwholesome activities of middlemen.

Reacting, some farmers at the market, Mrs. Soleye Sherifat, Mr. Oladunni Solomon and Mrs. Akinbobola Oluwatobi, commended Governor Abiodun for the intervention, saying it would help in improving their economic base.

OGSG CALLS FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN AIYETORO

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has called on the new Coronet Oba, the Onibudo of Aiyetoro-Budo, Oba Adewunmi Odutala, to focus on sustainable development of the community.

Governor Abiodun made the call during the Installation and Presentation of the Staff of Office to the new monarch at Ado-Odo\Ota Local Government, saying the elevation of the status of the Baales to Coronet Oba was aimed at bringing development closer to the grassroots.

The Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, advised the monarch to facilitate more developmental projects that would impact lives, urging him to respect his position by avoiding acts like land grabbing and wanton allocation of lands and related activities.

"I must say that the Ogun State Government does not only frown at land grabbing activities, but detest involvement of any Kabiyesi in such dastard acts. In this wise, I advise our new Kabiyesi to join the anti-land grabbing campaign, by ensuring that measures and machinery are put in place to curb the act and other related criminalities in your domain", he said.

Speaking, Chairman, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Lawal, represented by his Special Adviser on Special Duties, Hon. Kunle Badmus, appreciated the Governor for honouring Aiyetoro-Budo with a Coronet Oba, charging the monarch to justify the trust reposed on him and drive more development to the community.

The Ajiroba of Aiyetoro-Budo, Chief David Durojaiye, commended the monarch for his selfless service and visionary leadership, which had been a beacon of hope for the community, praying that the monarch's reign continues to bring peace, prosperity and progress to the community and the State at large.

In his acceptance speech, Oba Odutala expressed gratitude to the Governor for his support to traditional institutions in the State, promising that Ayetoro-Budo would witness tremendous development during his reign, as he would continue to support the present administration's developmental strides.

The new Coronet Oba, Onidiota of Idiota-Yewa, Oba Odewale Adeyinka, has been charged to run a sincere and inclusive leadership, in order to sustain peace and prosperity in his territory.

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, represented by the Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Rasak Daddah, revealed this at the Installation and Presentation of Instruments of Office to the new Oba in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area.

In his charge to the Monarch, Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, represented by the Olowo of Owo, Yewa, Oba (Engr.) Rufai Adesegun, urged the Oba to be humble and be of service to his people at all times, so as to win their trust.

Reacting, Chairman, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area, Hon. Lawal Wasiu, represented by the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Ogabi Mohammed, thanked the State Government for the honour, pledging his continued support for the monarch.

In his acceptance speech, Oba Adewale appreciated the state government and the entire community for their support, pledging to work closely with the government and other stakeholders for the progress of Idi-Ota land.

In a related development, the present administration has installed the Alaje of Ajerogun Oresha, Oba Olatunde Bamgbose in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the State.

The installation, according to Governor Dapo Abiodun, was in furtherance of the State's commitment to a firmer administrative structure in local communities.

Represented by his Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Rasak Daddah, Governor Abiodun congratulated Oba Olatunde Bamgbose and the Ajerogun Oresha people for their patience and efforts towards having a king over their domain after years of expectation.

"I equally enjoin the Oba to justify the mandate reposed in him by the people and the State by living up to expectations, as he reigns", he added.

NAVIGATE 4TH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION FOR CAREER ADVANCEMENT -SEN. SALISU

The Chairman Senate Committee on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Cyber Security, Senator Shuaib Salisu has called on Nigerian youths to navigate digitalisation which is the 4th industrial revolution for career development.

          Senator Salisu made the call while receiving on behalf of Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, the leadership Award of Excellence in Digital Transformation and Cyber Security, bestowed on him by the Babcock University, Ilishan Remo, during the year 2025 Cyber Security Workshop, tagged, "Building A Resilient Cyber Security Ecosystem: Bridging Academia, Industry and Organisational Practices".

Senator Salisu, who was also honoured with ICT Policy and Cyber Security Advocacy Excellent Award, underscored the need for every individual, organisations and government agencies, who desire growth, to embrace digitalisation, saying service delivery in Ogun State was made easy through digitalised and technology- driven agenda of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

          He reiterated that the State government would enhance the career path of individuals or organisations that were ready to embrace and leverage digital technology, laying emphasis on various opportunities available at Ogun Techhub.

          Speaking, Special Adviser on ICT, Ogun State, Mr. Dayo Abiodun, appreciated Babcock University for the honour bestowed on Governor Abiodun and Senator Afolabi Salisu, acknowledging that the gesture would spur them to do more advocacy on digital economy and Cyber Security, among others.

Mr. Abiodun, represented by Director, Standard Regulations Planning and Research, Ogun State Bureau of Information Technology (BIT), Olatundun Adekunte, highlighted various achievements of the State government on digitalisation, such as development and adoption of education web portals, land administration portals, business premises, tax remittance web portals, among others.

Presenting the Awards, Director, Academic Planning of Babcock University, Prof. Oludele Awodele, said the honour was to acknowledge relentless pursuits of Governor Abiodun, towards ensuring that people in the State embrace digital technology.

TRAIN YOUR CHILDREN IN GOD’S WAY, COMMISSIONER CHARGES PARENTS

Parents have been admonished to build up their children not only in academics but also in God’s way for them to be responsible members of the society.

The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, gave the charge during the Third Annual Ramadan Lecture, organised by the Muslim Community of the Ministry, noting that if young people were trained through the precept of God, they would not go astray in the digital age.

Prof. Arigbabu stated that the topic, ‘Wholistic Education and Digital-Age Parenting: Islamic Guidance From The Holy Quran’, was carefully chosen due to the situation in the country, saying that technology had come to stay and people should be tutored on how to use it to their advantage.

"The Quran is not against digitalisation, but the issue is how to balance it with religious knowledge to become better human beings", he said.

On her part, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Oluwatosin Oloko, noted that the Lecture was to teach and encourage Muslim Faithful to comport themselves according to the dictates of Allah, even beyond the month of Ramadan.

The Chairman of the lecture, Alhaji Tajudeen Olori, described the event as a bold step geared towards becoming a worthy role model, saying the digital age with Islamic guidance ought to make things easier, widen horizon, improve human system and make worshippers to be sober.

In his lecture, the resource person, Prof. Kamaldeen Balogun, said, "the right type of education is the only means to guide and train man's will, as well as choosing the right path of enlightenment, instead of the wrong route of darkness".

Prof. Balogun stated that the topic requires not just a discussion of the problem but a thought on the way forward, the gate to a balanced education according to the Qur'an.

Appreciating the organiser of the programme, the Chairman of the Muslim Community, Mr. Akeem Bisiriyu, said the event was to educate people on the need to balance education with religion.

OGUN PILGRIMS APPRECIATE GOVT. FOR HITCH-FREE EXERCISE

Ogun State Pilgrims have expressed appreciation to the Ogun State government for priortising Christian Pilgrimage and encouraging residents of the state to perform the holy visit to Israel.

The Executive Secretary of the State Board, Mr. Ibiyemi Oduyemi, stated this when he pilgrims touched down at Alia International Airport Amman, Jordan from Muritala Muhammed International Airport Lagos, thanking God for safety and protection, while promising to continue to seek the face of the Lord for socio-economic development of the State and Nigeria in general.

Oduyemi enthused that the State had no record of casualty or health-related challenge from the elderly pilgrims and others, during their visits to different Biblical sites in Jordan including, Mar Elias, the birth place of Prophet Elijah; Ancient Gadara-Dacapolis City, where Jesus cast out the spirit of legion from the madman of Gadara; the Machaerus fortress hilltop site, where John the Baptist was imprisoned and beheaded; the Mount Nebo, the mountain where Moses stood to view the Promise Land before his death and the site where Moses raised up calved snake to save those bitten by deadly snakes in the wilderness.

The Executive Secretary said the year 2024/2025 Pilgrimage, comprising 101 State Pilgrims, remains valued being the 12th batch, urging them to continue to use the Biblical sites as points of contact to pray for divine turn around and to continue to conduct themselves properly as good ambassadors of the State.

He enjoined the pilgrims to be spiritually inclined, comported and sustain their godly characters, towards making the State a model in this year’ pilgrimage, admonishing them to shun any evil intention or idea of absconding, as such action would only result in total shame, suffering and regret.

In their separate remarks, Hon. Justice Adesola Sobayo of Ogun State Judiciary; Bishop of Egba Anglican Diocese and Ogun State Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) President, Bishop Emmanuel Adekunle as well as the Ajalaye of Ilugun, Ijebu, Oba Emmanuel Olusanu, appreciated God for His mercies, saying performing pilgrimage was not just about sightseeing but a complete journey of spiritual renewal, destiny transformation and life changing encounter for testimonies.
