Stop Getting Double Promotions For Your Wards, Education Commissioner Cries Out

Parents and guardians have been cautioned about the unhealthy practice of leapfrogging their children and wards from lower classes to higher classes in a bid to accelerate their education. 


The Ogun State Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu who gave the warning during the State Executive Meeting of National Associations of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) in Ijebu-Ode advised parents to desist from fast tracking their wards advancement unlawfully.


He urged parents and guardians to allow the students go through the right processes which would enable them stand the test of time.


Prof. Arigbabu noted that there are now two categories of schools in Ogun State; The Approved and The Unapproved.


The Commissioner who explained that the Unapproved are though Registered Private Schools, he pleaded with unregistered private schools in the state to take advantage of the state portal opened for the purpose and get registered.


Towards achieving uniformity, effectiveness and efficiency of the state policies and developmental initiatives in the Education Sector, Prof. Arigbabu called on private school owners to align with the present administration's transformation agenda.


Prof. Arigbabu said the digital platform used for driving the entire system had been positioned in a way that all sort of malpractices including, giving a learner multiple Learner Identification Number (LIN) can now be monitored and disallowed. 


He noted that all other malpractices like taking a child from one class to a higher class or from one school to another without following due processes are now disallowed.


" Please let us all be on the right side, avoid any form of manipulations on the platform, align with our policy, join hands with us to clean up the entire education system, " the Commissioner pleaded.


Responding, President of NAPPS Ogun State Chapter Otunba Joshua Osibeluwo, commended the Prince Dapo Abiodun-Led administration on its commitment in repositioning the sector to build enviable future for the leaners as well as involvement of the Private Schools owners in the policy making, while pledging their support and conformity with the government.
