Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Lions Club Partner for City-Wide Clean-Up Exercise
Furtherance to promoting hygienic environment, the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Chairman, Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu FCA, has said it is expedient for all the residents in Ado-Odo/ Ota Local Government to promote a cleaner and an healthier environment across the nooks and crannies of the area.
The Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Lawal Wasiu gave this charge while partnering the Lions and Leos of Region 7, District 404-B4 Ota Axis, to promote a cleaner and healthier environment, in Ota.
He added that the partnership underscores the local government's commitment to working with relevant stakeholders to promote sustainable development and environmental sanitation demonstrating the local government's commitment to working with stakeholders to deliver quality services.
While providing a dedicated waste-evacuation truck to ensure prompt removal of collected refuse, he charged the Department of Water and Environmental Sanitation officers to be part of the exercise in order to sensitizing the public on proper cleaning techniques and public health best practices.
"The clean-up exercise is part of the local government's efforts to promote sustainable cities and communities, aligning with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goals 6 and 11, working together, the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government and the Lions Club aim to create a cleaner, healthier environment for residents," Lawal explained.
The LG boss said Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government is located in Ogun State, Nigeria, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government the second-largest local government area in the state, covering 878 km² with a population of 526,565. The area is known for its industrial activities, including manufacturing, construction, and service sectors, making it a vital part of the state's economy saying all these attributes have necessitated the cleaning up exercise.
