 ARIGBABU HARPS ON INDIGENOUS LANGUAGES IN SCHOOLS

Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu has emphasised on the need for inclusion of native languages as compulsory subjects in Schools across the Country.



Prof. Arigbabu revealed this, while playing host to the Executive Members of Egbe Ak'omol'ede ati Asa Yoruba, Ogun State Chapter in his Office in Abeokuta, Saying when children are taught in their mother tongue, it improves there understanding and gives them deeper knowledge of the subject thereby making them excel.


"If I have my way, I will want Yoruba to be made compulsory subject which would be taken from primary school up to secondary school," he said.

Speaking, The Special Adviser to President General of the Association, Ven. Olusiji Adegboyega, commended Governor Dapo Abiodun’s led-administration on its laudable initiatives and innovation in revitalising the education sector which has immensely contributed to the remarkable performance of learners and teachers in National and International competitions, saying this has made the State stand tall among others.
