Ogun: Ex-APC spokesperson, Oladunjoye, laid to rest

The remains of the former Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Tunde Oladunjoye, were laid to rest on Sunday in his hometown, Ijebu-Itele, in the Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The Nigerian Tribune gathered that Janazah prayers were held in his honour at the Itele Central Mosque, followed by a Fidau prayer at St. John’s Primary School, Itele.

At the Fidau prayer, the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, acknowledged the immense contributions of the late journalist and politician to the policies and programmes of his administration.

Abiodun stated that the late Oladunjoye played a pivotal role in the emergence, stability, and progress of the current administration in the state.

He described the late spokesperson of the APC in Ogun as a resourceful, tenacious, and hardworking man, noting that he was one of the three executive committee members who helped stabilize the administration at its inception. He added that Oladunjoye was a true party man.

“As a party man and aide, Oladunjoye never believed in half measures. He went out of his way to defend the programmes, policies, philosophy, and image of the Ogun State Government under our leadership. He was an effective and highly accomplished spokesman whose brilliance was never in doubt.

“He was a voice of courage and arguably the best spokesman the Ogun APC has ever produced. His contributions to the modest successes this administration has recorded across various sectors cannot be overemphasized. I commiserate with his family and the Ogun APC.

“His doggedness, tenacity, and loyalty to the cause he believed in always stood out. Without a doubt, he contributed immensely to making the Ogun APC a formidable brand. He was frank, down-to-earth, forthright, and focused.

“He was very dear to my heart. Tunde was a prolific writer and a dogged fighter for any cause he believed in. As a local government chairman, his legacies are visible for all to see. He was passionate about the plight of the common man.”

The governor further described Oladunjoye as a fearless and focused individual—a philanthropist who was deeply concerned about the welfare of journalists and others around him. He added that Oladunjoye was selfless in his dealings with people.

He prayed for God to grant the deceased eternal rest and his family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss, assuring them that his administration would support them during this difficult time.

The APC State Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, recalled the challenges they faced together and Oladunjoye’s contributions to the growth of the party in the state, describing the news of his death as both devastating and tragic.

The State 2025 Amirul Hajj and National President of the Amalgamated Commercial Tricycle and Motorcycle Owners, Repairs, and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN), Prince Adebayo Apelogun, urged everyone to do good while alive, as no one knows when death will come.

According to Prince Apelogun, Oladunjoye did his best and has now gone to rest with his Maker, reminding all that everyone will give an account of their deeds while alive.

The daughter of the late Oladunjoye, Robiat, eulogized her father as an upright, peaceful, and hardworking man who instilled in his children the values of contentment and simplicity.

She said her father was a father figure to many and a benefactor to countless others, describing him as a gift to humanity. Though he is gone, she said, his memory will forever live on.
