Public-Private Partnerships: Key to Sustainable Development in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government
In a bid to further fast track development in Ado Odo Ota Local Government, the Chairman, Hon Lawal Adewale Wasiu, has said public private partnership (PPP), remains a veritable tool for driving a sustainable development within the Local Government Area in particular and the nation in general.
The Council Boss, Hon..Lawal Wasiu made this statement during a courtesy visit of the Plant Manager, Nigerian Breweries, Mrs Chinyere Oguala to his office at the Secretariat, Ota.
Lawal addressed the issue of multiple taxation, that the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, empowers Local Government to collect levies and rates where necessary adding that such does not conflict with taxes collected by Federal or State Government.
He cited instances such as the establishment of private markets and management of corporate parks as areas under the jurisdiction of the Local Government appreciating the management of the company for the visit, stating the move reflects the company's commitment to community engagement and collaboration.
He emphasized the importance of regular stakeholders engagement and disclosed plans by his administration to embark on visits to major industries in the area to better understand their challenges and foster a more conducive business environment.
"My desire is to see our industries transition from from loss-making to profit -making, as this is the only way we can be mutually beneficial to each other", he said.
Earlier speaking, the Nigerian Breweries, Plant Manager, Ota, Mrs. Chinyere Oguala, described the visit as a significant step towards strengthening the relationship between the company and the Local Government.
She emphasized the importance of maintaining a robust partnership with the host community, especially as a thriving business operating within the council area commending the Chairman for providing an enabling environment for businesses to flourish.
